Still Waiting...

Well, it seems that it's still not quite time for baby to come out. My blood pressure was totally normal today - 110 over 72 all three times it was checked. I am a little farther along than I have been so far, and it sounds like some of the feelings I'm having might be contractions. My doctor said that there was really no reason to induce me today, but that it was my call. I let her make the decision, as I am not the expert, and she said if it were her, she would wait and see what happens. It sounds like things might happen without having to be induced, which would actually be my preference. As uncomfortable as I am, it just makes sense to let nature take its course and let baby come when she's good and ready! The weird thing is that I think I have been having more contractions since I got home from the doctor, so maybe all the poking and prodding has caused things to kick start. My next appointment is Thursday morning at 9:45 at which point we will again reassess and make the next informed decision! Stay tuned to the blog...Dan says he'll try to update it from the hospital on his laptop if there's time.

Friends quotes of the day: (There are quite a few today...too many good ones to pick from!)

Episode: The One After the Super Bowl (or the one where Phoebe sings to little kids at the library)

Phoebe's first song:
Now Grandma's a person that everyone likes.
She bought you a train and bright shiny bike.
But lately she hasn't been coming to dinner,
And last time you saw her she looked so much thinner.
Now your mom and your dad say she moved to Peru,
But the truth is she died and some day you'll die too.
La la la la la la la la la la la!

Phoebe's second song:
Now the cow in the meadow goes moo.
The cow in the meadow goes moo.
Then the farmer hits him on the head and grinds him up and that's how we get hamburgers.
Now.....CHICKENS!

Episode: The One with the Prom Video

(Joey bought Chandler a bracelet.)
Chandler: He could have bought me a VCR or golf clubs, but no. Instead he buys me the woman repellant. The eyesore from the Liberace house of crap!
Phoebe: It's not that bad.
Chandler: That's easy for you to say. You don't have to walk around sporting some reject from the Mr. T collection. I pity the foo' who puts on my jewelry. I do...I do!

(Watching the video)
Joey: Some girl ate Monica!
Monica: Shut up! The camera adds 10 pounds.
Chandler: So exactly how many cameras are on you?

Nervously Awaiting

This morning Dan and I woke up to the smell of skunk outside of our house.  It was pretty gross, and it took most of the morning for the house to air out.  That is probably the most interesting piece of information I can give today.  I did have a minor nervous moment.  I think it's hitting me that this is real and that in a few days, we could be parents!  Dan is of course excited to see his little girl, as am I, but he doesn't have to go through the part that I do.  He's been great with my bed rest...cooking, cleaning, and pretty much taking care of business!  It's helped me to stay as calm as I can possibly be at this point.

Friends quotes of the day:

Episode:  The One with the Lesbian Wedding

(Monica is the caterer.)

Monica: Come on people, MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!
Chandler: Monica, you sound like you should have German subtitles.

Monica: Do you want to make me cry?  Is that what you want...to see me cry?!
Phoebe: SIR, NO SIR!

Our Last Weekend as a Family of Two (or Four)?

Not much new to report today. I'm still trying to adjust to the fact that this might be our last weekend without a new person in the house! I'm thinking that this weekend will involve some last minute cleaning, laundry, and relaxation. Max and Sami are enjoying their time with me at home. I think they know something is up because they truly never leave my side. Even when Dan gets home they follow me around the house like they're never going to see me again. I think they'll be great with the baby. Max will have a new friend to play with and protect, and Sami will have a new buddy to lay on the couch with :)

Friends quotes of the day:

Episode: The One with the Baby on the Bus

Joey: One has ducks on his shirt and the other one has clowns. We'll flip for it.
Chandler: We have to assign heads to something.
Joey: OK, I got it. Ducks is heads because ducks have heads.
Chandler: What kind of scary-ass clowns came to your birthday party?!

Episode: The One with Phoebe's Dad

(Opening Christmas presents from Joey and Chandler)
Rachel: Wiper blades. I don't even have a car.
Joey: No, but with this new car scent, you'll think you do!

Phoebe: Toilet seat covers! Is this what you were doing when I was pumping gas?

Ross: A cola drink.
Chandler: And...A LEMON LIME!
Ross: I should have gotten you another sweater.

Update From Doctor

I went to the doctor this morning, and again, there is not much change. My blood pressure was a little high (126 over 90), but nothing too bad. Baby is still at the same status, but doing well. The plan for next week is one scheduled appointment on Monday morning at 9:15 where we will go through the normal routine of checking the blood pressure and baby status. Then depending on how everyone is feeling, it might be time to check in to the hospital. My doctor's thinking is that there is no point in having me sit around on bed rest while my pressure continues to jump around and we have no way of knowing whether baby will be here next week or in another 3 weeks. So, it sounds like this might be the last weekend of waiting! I packed my bag and baby's bag this morning just in case, so I think (and that's a BIG I think) we're ready?? All that's left for the bag is stuff I use daily (toothbrush, etc.). Again...stay tuned :)

I'm glad people are enjoying the quotes, by the way!!

Friends Quotes of the Day:

Episode: The One with Phoebe's Husband (or the one where they find out about Chandler's third nipple)

Chandler: What? It's totally useless!
Rachel: Oh, as opposed to your other multi-functional nipples.

Ross: Does it do anything special?
Chandler: Yes, Ross, my third nipple actually opens the delivery entrance to the magical land of Narnia.

Ross: Darn, we're out of milk. Chandler, can you fill me up?

Better Today

Yesterday I did not feel well and did not sleep well. Today is better. I'm getting a little more uncomfortable as we go along, but I think that's good. I think it means that the baby is getting bigger and is more ready to greet us with her presence. Doctor tomorrow, so we'll see if anything has progressed. I also got a nice surprise via UPS today...baby has her Halloween costume! Thanks Jackie, Brian, and Donovan for the adorable pumpkin outfit! Stay tuned for pictures :)

Friends quotes of the day:

Episode: The One with Ross' New Girlfriend (when he gets back from China)

Joey: I've been going to the guy since I was 15...no 16...no wait 15...I'm sorry. When was 1990?
Chandler: OK, you have to stop the Q-tip when there's resistance.

Joey: Hey, tell Frankie that Joey Tribbiani says hello. He'll know what it means.
Chandler: Are you sure he's going to be able to crack that code?

Joey: That's how they do pants! Ross, would you tell him that's how they do pants?
Ross: Yes, yes it is...in prison!

Tired Day

Last night was one of the first nights in awhile that I had trouble sleeping. I woke up around 4:15 and did not fall back to sleep until after Dan got up at 6:20. Part of the reason was that the baby had the hiccups. I had a consistent jumping in my belly for quite a long time. I guess I got my first small taste of being kept awake by my child :)

Otherwise it was another day of bed rest. I decided that since I have been watching my Friends DVDs, I will end each post with a classic quote from the episodes I watch that day. If you are a Friends fan, please enjoy. I hope you find these as entertaining as I do. For those of you who don't watch Friends, you really should. It's hilarious!!

Episode: The One with All the Poker (I have 3 quotes from this one...I couldn't pick a favorite.)

Chandler: Rach, we need to settle.
Rachel: Settle what?
Chandler: The Jamestown colony of Virginia.

Rachel: Guess what?!
Chandler: The fifth dentist caved and now everyone is recommending Trident?

Phoebe: You know what I just realized? Joker is poker with a j. Coincidence?
Chandler: Hey, that's jo-incidence with a c!

Gotta love Chandler!

Good News!

I went in to the doctor this morning, and much to the surprise of two nurses, the doctor, and me my blood pressure was totally normal! They checked it four times to make sure the reading was correct, and I didn't even have to lay down on my left side. My doctor said that I must have been a good girl on bed rest because it's working! She said that she was expecting to tell me to pack my bags and head over to the hospital today, but all is good for now. No change in baby's status, but everything still looks good. I go back on Thursday this week, and she said we're still looking at 38 weeks (next week) as a good time frame. I told her that any longer than that, and I might be begging to be induced :) Until then I keep doing what I'm doing and hope that things progress normally. I was even given permission to leave the house for some last minute shopping tonight...my reward for good behavior :)

Movies, Movies, Movies

My wonderful mother and father babysat for me today. Dan had a tennis tournament all day, so instead of sitting at home by myself, my mom picked me, Max, and Sami up to spend the day at the Proffitt house. I did my thing - left side laying - and my mom did our laundry. Max and Sami enjoyed playing with Uncle Brady and they got to expel some of their pent up energy by doing laps up and down the hallway.

My day consisted of movies for the first time on bed rest. I started out with a little Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I love when they sing and do the kick line. Then I went on to Enchanted, which I had never seen before. Very cute. Last was one of my all time favorites - Troop Beverly Hills. If anyone was ever in Girl Scouts, this movie is a must. There's the camp out complete with fondue and a fur coat that ends at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Then there are the invented patches including the Jewelry Appraisal Patch. And of course there is the concert to promote the cookie sale. All I have to say is that it's Cookie Time!

Next doctor's appointment is Monday, so stay tuned for the update!

No Change

Well, my doctor visit was uneventful. My blood pressure was still high when I went in (132 over 100 for those of you keeping score), so I did the lay on my side trick again and it went down to below normal. So my wishes of less bed rest are not going to come true. I also lost 5 pounds in the last 4 days...all of which I was told was retained water, so the resting must be working. Baby is fine. She kicked the doctor while I was being examined, so maybe she's letting her know that the time is near :) No change in her status yet, but the doctor guesses she's about 6 pounds. She said I'm carrying small, but that it's not uncommon for the baby to tuck herself into the belly so that what appears to be a 6 pound baby comes out at 8 pounds. I also found out that I carry some bacteria that 30% of women carry that requires me to have IV antibiotics when I deliver. No big deal...just another thing to know ahead of time, which I greatly appreciate. We also decided that 38 weeks is the latest we will go, so in another week and a half, Baby G will be here!

Whoa! Jamie is almost there!

Jamie has been spending a lot of time at home resting and relaxing. Look at how happy she appears to be in her picture.

Between you and me I think Jamie made the blood pressure thing up just to get me to do all of the work and all of the cooking at home. I guess I should give her the benefit of the doubt and believe this is all good.

Days 2 and 3

Days two and three of bed rest have been just as exciting as Day one! Let me tell you that after 11:00, there is not much in the area of daytime television. I think tomorrow I might have to bust out Season One of my Friends DVD's. I never get sick of that show! I have actually decided to pursue a project...don't laugh, but my mom taught me how to crochet. I have been promising Dan a tree skirt for our Christmas tree for a few years now and have not been able to find one that I like. So now I'm making one. It's kind of nice to have something to do while I'm lying down or cheating and sitting up for a few minutes. I don't know how it will turn out, or if I'll even finish it, but it's keeping me busy for a few hours at least! I'm also reading Twilight - it's a book that a lot of the middle school kids are reading. It's an easy read and actually pretty entertaining.

I go to the doctor tomorrow for a check on things. I'm assuming a blood pressure check and another status check on baby. She has been kicking around in there as usual, so it's nice to know that everything seems good with her. Hopefully the doctor will tell me that my blood pressure is down and that things are progressing. Dan says that if the baby could come tomorrow or Saturday that would be great so he could get out of tennis this weekend. Steph told me today that that works well for her schedule as well because she could come home and take the weekend off of work. I told them both that I will have a chat with baby, and we'll see what we can do. I didn't know that I had the option to decide! Any other requests on dates?? :)

Thanks for all of your comments and positive thoughts. It's fun to check this and e-mail and see what everyone has to say.

Here We Go!

So after an unexpected trip to the doctor on Monday, I am officially done with work and on bed rest. Because my blood pressure is high, and we want baby to stay in as long as possible, my instructions are to lay on my side, day and night, unless I have to go to the bathroom or eat. Sounds pretty sweet, but it's not as easy as it sounds. I am trying to accustom myself to daytime TV and figure out how to keep myself and the puppies entertained. In the mean time, the baby is still kicking around and is in position to be born. The waiting game begins!
