Week Three

I can't believe Macy is another week older! She is still growing before our very eyes, getting bigger by the hour. We had a few firsts this week. On Wednesday during our morning diaper change I opened the onesie to find that Macy had a belly button! Yes, the cord finally came off. We called Dan at work to tell him the news, and all three of us were very excited. (It's the little things, right?) That night we were also able to give Macy her first real bath. We decided to take a hint from Jackie and bathe her in our big red popcorn bowl. We figured she's only going to be small enough for that once! She loved the warm water, but hated getting out of it. It was a video-worthy experience, and too adorable.

We are still trying to get the sleeping at night thing down. Macy is truly a nocturnal person. She proved it yesterday when she literally slept ALL day and was up literally ALL night. Dan and I camped out in the living room and probably slept for a total of 2 hours. By 6:00, I laid Macy on my lap, surrounded myself with pillows, and we were able to nap together for about 3 hours. It turns out she loves to be held, and when she is as awake as she was last night, that and eating are the only things that comfort her. I've been told that eventually she'll rearrange her days and nights, but really? I have a hard time figuring that one out at this point. As frustrating as it is, all I need to do is look at her little face (complete with angel kisses and baby acne) and I instantly realize that the lack of sleep is all worth it. I wouldn't change anything. Enjoy the new pictures and stay tuned!
